As aerial 1080 poison continues to rain down over "clean green" New Zealand, more and more people are asking "why?" Why kill so many innocent creatures through direct or secondary poisoning in the name of "pest control?" Does any creature deserve such a cruel and slow death? |

Why drop 1080 poison in our public water supply catchments when the U.S. manufacturer's recommendations state it should be kept "at least one half mile from human habitation" and "out of any body of water" due to its lethal toxicity. And finally, why risk NZ's valuable export and tourist industries with this cavalier approach to pest control? Or are our bureaucrats really this reckless and uncaring towards the people's vision for our future? Right now it seems so. |
Why continue to blanket poison our bush, forests and farmland with a Class A poison that has no antidote, the effects of which on our environment and ecosystem are as yet unknown? And why use a male reproductive toxin with links to endocrine disruption, when research regarding its chronic effects, not only on our endangered native species, but also on humans is still urgently required? |

It's New Zealand - 2009 and our people have had enough! A rapidly growing number of New Zealanders are concerned about the continuing widespread distribution of indiscriminate aerial poisons over our bush, forest and farmland, a senseless practice which makes a mockery of our "clean green" image to the rest of the world. |
