A carcass can remain toxic for many months. Also, after heavy rain, they can also be
carried far from the poison zone to wash up on riverbanks or beaches.
It takes a minute amount of 1080 to kill a dog - a single poison bait can kill several large
dogs. One bait in a puddle has also killed dogs drinking from it.
Once the symptoms of 1080 poisoning appear,(see below) it is it too late and would be
kinder to shoot your pet!
